Fitness Friday: Lovin' The Wii Fit Plus
I hadn't even realized that Wii Fit Plus was coming out. Last month, my 10 yr.-old son (who loves Wii Fit) was searching Amazon for things to buy with a birthday gift card. He happened across a preview of Wii Fit Plus which would release on 10/4. He loved all the fun new games they were showing (flying around in a chicken suit, riding a Segway, skateboarding and more), so he decided to pre-order it.
I am so glad that he bought it - LOL!! It has everything that Wii Fit had, but lots more fun games added in. Also, it now tells you how many calories you have burned. Sometimes I like knowing that and sometimes it depresses me that it's so low!
My favorite part though is that you can use preset routines to accomplish your goals or set up your very own customized routine to save and do again and again. Want to trim your hips? There's a routine for that. Improve your posture? There's a routine for that too. What I like about these routines is that they "force" me to add in more of the yoga and strength moves.
Some other features are that you can challenge another player and that you can quickly switch from one Mii to another. I also think that some of the new games are really entertaining. My faves right now are Rhythm Kung Fu and the hip-bumping game (can't remember the name!). My son's fave is the obstacle course.
Overall, we really like the Wii Fit Plus and the new routines are enough to make me get the board back out and start working out again!
Have you exercised this week? Have you made a workout plan for next week? Remember, it's better to start with small attainable goals (hello - talking to self here!).
Have a great weekend!!

Fitness Friday - I'm Blaming My Dad For My Weight Gain

Well if you have company come and visit, don't they take responsibility for your weight gain? Right Dad? I suppose if I blame Dad for my gain, he'll blame me for his - LOL!
If I am not already well in control of my healthy eating/weight management, it doesn't take much to really throw me off. We ate out a lot and I didn't make the best food choices. And we bought a lot of candy/snacks - I inherited a strong sweet tooth!
So are you ready for my total gain for the week? It's 1 lb. And yes, I am actually happy! Why? Because a couple of days ago, I really thought the gain would be closer to 3 lbs - yikes! Maybe the activity from the week saved me. I didn't do any Wii Fit this week. But I started out the week with some marathon cleaning/redecorating (the story is here if you're interested) and then we did a lot of walking around with my Dad. We even went and toured a Cavern with LOTS of steps down into it - realized just how many there were coming back up. The guide told us it was our thighmaster/step workout for the day!
So I must get back on track this week! It should be OK 'cause we are still on Spring Break and now hubby is on vacation. We will be working on lots of projects, keeping busy. And I should be able to fit in some Wii Fit sessions this week. It would be so nice to lose more than a pound so I'd get rid of the gain plus more.
How was your week? Any fitness or healthy tips to help me out this week? I know we can have a good week - let's do it!! :)

Fitness Friday, er I Mean Monday
Sorry to neglect this poor little blog all week! And guess who mentioned that fact to me? My Dad! Hi Dad! Didn't know he even read this blog - LOL!
I'm not linking up to the official Fitness Friday since I'm so far past! Will try to do it this week though. My Dad is here to visit so I have been busy!
But you want to know how I did last week, right? Well, I did not do Wii Fit at all! Not good - I must get on track! I didn't track what I ate either, but I tried to manage portions and stay away from the bad stuff most of the time. In spite of all that - I lost 1 lb. for the week!! Yay!! I really want to keep that weight heading in a downward direction. :)
This week will be a challenge with company and a lot of eating out. We'll see what happens!
How was your week? Have a great new week and remember to just start fresh if you had a challenging week!

Fitness Friday - Any Amount Of Weight Loss Is Good In My World

Sssshhhh - pretend that it is not Saturday yet, just an extended version of Friday - LOL!
Stop by Fitness Friday at Wii Mommies - others are linked up and you can read a humorous post on some excellent lessons learned about the Wii Fit!
Not a great week. I started out the week sick along with hubby and that never turns out well for me in the weight department. I also didn't feel up to exercising at the beginning of the week except for a session of Wii bowling with the family. I don't think that really counts as exercise though it burns more calories than watching TV!
I did manage to lose .5 lb!! Yay - any loss is better than a gain!! I didn't really keep track of what I ate, but tried not to go overboard. I did drink a little water, but not near enough. And I did manage to get 1 Wii Fit session in and added a couple of strength training moves.
On to another week. I hope to do better and lose more than that this week! I want to get more organized and write everything down that I need to do. I need to get better at scheduling my time. Hopefully that will help!
How was your week? Have a healthy, fit new week! If you're struggling, hang in there - do NOT give up! You can do it!

Fitness Friday - My 100th Post

*Giveaway closed
It's Fitness Friday with the Wii Mommies! Stop over there - they have fun stuff happening today and tomorrow!
Yes, it is really my 100th post on this blog! (Keep reading for a giveaway!) Wouldn't it be nice to report weight loss on your 100th post? I think so. I wish I could call this a weight loss blog, but it really is more of a weight struggle blog. This blog is all about being honest and sharing the difficulties as well as successes, so maybe it is appropriate that I have to report a weight gain today. I gained a whole 1 lb this week! :( I did not keep track of what I was eating; I did not drink water; I did not do Wii Fit even once. You can see why it is no surprise that I had a gain.
I do know what I need to do in order to get healthy and lose weight. It's no mystery. I've done it before. I have plenty of healthy recipes, weight loss tools, and the fabulous Wii Fit! My struggle is with motivation. I thought about saying that I struggle with commitment too, but if I am motivated, then I can be committed. So it's all about the motivation!
If you've been reading here a while, you know that I don't beat myself up over a gain - it doesn't help me. I start fresh and try again. One good thing that I can say is that over the past 7-8 months, I have stayed below my starting (maximum) weight. It's the longest amount of time without an overall weight gain in the last 4 years or so I think. So that's good. But not good enough! I need to get some weight off for my health and my comfort!
I started this blog to help me get healthy and lose weight, to share healthy recipes and tips, and to talk about the struggles along the way. Now that I am at my 100th post - I would love some feedback from you!
Finally - the giveaway! I have a $10 Starbucks card to give to one random commenter!! All you have to do to be entered is leave a comment with some feedback for me about this blog. What do you like about it? What do I need to add? What should I change? How often should I post? I really do appreciate your help! If you would like an extra entry, subscribe (or tell me that you already do) and leave a separate comment and/or post about it on your blog or on twitter and leave a separate comment. The giveaway will be open until Monday night 3/16 to give you plenty of time. I will post the winner on Tuesday 3/17!
Why a Starbucks card for a healthy blog? It's one of my favorite places to have a treat that doesn't ruin my weight loss efforts. Here are some of the healthier treats I enjoy there:
Grande Skinny Flavored Latte (hazelnut or caramel)
Venti Iced Skinny Flavored Latte
Caramel Frappuccino Light - Double-Blended (makes it creamier with no ice chunks)
Oatmeal
Reduced Fat Coffee Cake
Petite Vanilla Scone
Thanks for stopping by on Fitness Friday and following my ramblings! Thank you to all of you who come by to read my blog even when I haven't posted as often! Please leave me some feedback and get that giveaway entry!

Fitness Friday - Wii Had Fun

It's time for Fitness Friday with Wii Mommies! I'll get the weight news out of the way first - no change from last week. That's not great since last week I gained! As usual, I will keep on working at it. I only did Wii Fit once last week and I was not good about tracking what I ate. I hope to do better this week. I should be motivated by my hubby - he has been consistently going to the gym 3 times a week for the last 3 weeks or so and has lost weight!
The Wii Olympics were last Saturday at Wii Mommies. I didn't post any of my scores, but I attempted everything that I had unlocked. We decided to make it a family event. My hubby, son and I all did the 5 events (modifying the ones we didn't all have unlocked). We added up our total scores and the winner was to choose a treat for the family. My son won by 4 pts overall! Hubby was second and I was last. Guess I have some work to do. We had so much fun being in competition with each other!
We decided that we will hold our own family Wii Olympics once a month. We will all need to do some training in between. We will list out several different events that we would like to compete in and randomly draw 5 of the events each month. We will each get 3 tries at each event, with our best score recorded. We'll decide what the winner gets each month. Doesn't that sound like fun?
How was your week? Did you participate in the Wii Olympics? Have you found a way to get the whole family involved in using Wii Fit?
Have a wonderful weekend! And remember to check out Mel's Five Point Friday for some healthy meal ideas to try out!

Fitness Friday - Something MUST Be Wrong With My Scale

Well if only it were true that something was wrong with my scale! It's another Fitness Friday and I wish I had good news about my weight, but I'm OK and still doing Wii Fit.
The scale (bad scale!) was up today - sigh. Up a full 1 pound - ugh! Wish I could say that I have no idea why, but it might have something to do with a birthday lunch for 1 friend, a birthday breakfast for another, making scones and pumpkin bread for hubby's office (meaning I have to sample), etc. That sounds awful though I tried to make good choices along the way.
At the birthday lunch, I only ate half and took the rest home for hubby. At the birthday breakfast, I ordered the light breakfast. I only ate 1 scone before sending along with hubby and tried my best not to eat more than a couple of slices of pumpkin bread. Still, any amount of extra things like that in a week for me make a difference (I can gain weight just smelling goodies - LOL!) I will try to do better this week!
I did do Wii Fit 2 times this week. Would like to do more next week. I did some balance games, a lot of aerobics, and some yoga. I need to get the strength training added in. I do plan to check in on the Wii Fit Olympics tomorrow. The 5 events will be announced in the morning. Even if I have no chance of winning, I want to take note of what others are achieving so I have some goals to work toward. You might want to check in on the fun Saturday 2/28!
How was your week? Did you have any struggles this week? Are you making any changes for next week?
Have a great weekend! And check out my giveaway if you're interested in a diet book!

Fitness Friday - On My Weigh Down :)
OK - results for this week. I am down .5 lb this week! Yay! I know it doesn't sound much to some of you, but with my struggles, any weight lost involves a happy dance! And I do know why it was only that much. I only did Wii Fit once during this past week. Just got busy - I need to make sure that I am making time for it. Also, I only did so-so with keeping track of my WW points. What got me off track was that darn clearance Valentine candy! I have no will power over super-cheap prices for chocolate! I will get back on track this week!
I have developed a bit of a routine on the Wii Fit for now: I start with a long run or an island lap for a warm up, then a couple of balance games, advanced step, boxing, and hula hoops. If I have enough time, I move on to strength training and then finish with a couple of yoga poses. Do you have a routine? I am open to any suggestions!
How was your week? Any struggles? Good news to report? However it went, we are starting a new week and we CAN be successful this week!
Have a blessed weekend!
Lisa :)

Fitness Friday - That's Right, Another New Start :)
If you have been reading this blog for a while, you'll notice that I keep trying new programs and/or going back to old programs again. It can seem a little scattered. But I am trying to stay motivated and if something doesn't seem to be working, then I will go to another program.
For now, I am back to counting WW points (something I have had success with in the past), but my newest exciting thing is that I now have a Wii Fit and have joined up with Wii Fit Mommies! On Monday, I started my newest attempts at health and weight loss.
I did drink some of my water this week and I stayed within my WW points from Monday thru Thursday. I also did Wii Fit 3 times during those days. And guess what?? YES - I lost weight!!! Woo-hoo! I lost 1.5 lbs!! That made me really happy, especially after the gain I had the week before. I plan to continue the same for this week and will let you know the results on Friday. I do hope to start posting more often on this blog, too.
I am in the process of setting some weight loss goals and deadlines for myself and will update you on those later.
I hope you had a good week! Even if you didn't - a new week is starting. Let go of the past week and start fresh!
Lisa :)
