Fitness Friday - My 100th Post

*Giveaway closed

It's Fitness Friday with the Wii Mommies! Stop over there - they have fun stuff happening today and tomorrow!

Yes, it is really my 100th post on this blog! (Keep reading for a giveaway!) Wouldn't it be nice to report weight loss on your 100th post? I think so. I wish I could call this a weight loss blog, but it really is more of a weight struggle blog. This blog is all about being honest and sharing the difficulties as well as successes, so maybe it is appropriate that I have to report a weight gain today. I gained a whole 1 lb this week! :( I did not keep track of what I was eating; I did not drink water; I did not do Wii Fit even once. You can see why it is no surprise that I had a gain.

I do know what I need to do in order to get healthy and lose weight. It's no mystery. I've done it before. I have plenty of healthy recipes, weight loss tools, and the fabulous Wii Fit! My struggle is with motivation. I thought about saying that I struggle with commitment too, but if I am motivated, then I can be committed. So it's all about the motivation!

If you've been reading here a while, you know that I don't beat myself up over a gain - it doesn't help me. I start fresh and try again. One good thing that I can say is that over the past 7-8 months, I have stayed below my starting (maximum) weight. It's the longest amount of time without an overall weight gain in the last 4 years or so I think. So that's good. But not good enough! I need to get some weight off for my health and my comfort!

I started this blog to help me get healthy and lose weight, to share healthy recipes and tips, and to talk about the struggles along the way. Now that I am at my 100th post - I would love some feedback from you!

Finally - the giveaway! I have a $10 Starbucks card to give to one random commenter!! All you have to do to be entered is leave a comment with some feedback for me about this blog. What do you like about it? What do I need to add? What should I change? How often should I post? I really do appreciate your help! If you would like an extra entry, subscribe (or tell me that you already do) and leave a separate comment and/or post about it on your blog or on twitter and leave a separate comment. The giveaway will be open until Monday night 3/16 to give you plenty of time. I will post the winner on Tuesday 3/17!

Why a Starbucks card for a healthy blog? It's one of my favorite places to have a treat that doesn't ruin my weight loss efforts. Here are some of the healthier treats I enjoy there:
Grande Skinny Flavored Latte (hazelnut or caramel)
Venti Iced Skinny Flavored Latte
Caramel Frappuccino Light - Double-Blended (makes it creamier with no ice chunks)
Oatmeal
Reduced Fat Coffee Cake
Petite Vanilla Scone

Thanks for stopping by on Fitness Friday and following my ramblings! Thank you to all of you who come by to read my blog even when I haven't posted as often! Please leave me some feedback and get that giveaway entry!

Lisa :)

  1. What a great idea, a blog to help make you accountable and help others as well, I love it! Once I bought a womens gym just to try and lose weight, this would have been a better idea!

  2. I am New to this Fitness Friday. Been reading the post of all the Followers. One thing I like about your post today is, you mentioned no weight lost this week. It is so hard to read others making process when one is not. Being Honest is the key to success. Humor is good to add. Laughter lightens the mood and makes Ones day. "I hate it when those cookies call me, their voice sound so needy":)

  4. I think that is exactly why I have been doing the fitness fridays and getting support from the Wii Moms...the accountability. There are so many times I dont have the motivation...but I know, hey I gotta post about how I did this week. I keep it right on my family blog so that people that know me, as well as those who dont, give me support and encouragment.

  5. I think this is my first visit to your blog. And you have a good thing going with weekly posts about your weight.

I would suggest that you change the picture in your header, perhaps making your blog a little more unique to you.

Also, my friend Natalie has recently lost quite a bit of weight, mostly by following WW and exercising A LOT. But I thought you might like a link to her blog for inspiration and motivation.

She also does a post every Friday caleld "Fat Fighting Friday."

And lastly, good luck! : )

  6. Oh I would like to win the Starbucks card! LOL. As far as this blog is concerned I think you need to find someone who might give it a little face lift. You know maybe spice it up a bit! Put some video of you doing the Wii Fit! LOL. OR you could leave it just the way it is because I like that too.
BIG Low Calorie Hugs to you my friend.

  7. I think you are right on track my friend! Motivation is the key. Sometimes it is extremely hard to be motivated and follow through. But you are alos right by not beating yourself up over it. It is about overall lifestyle changes and those take longer. Keep at it my friend! You'll get there.

Oh and I would love to win a Starbucks card! You know I love that place :o) Thanks for giving ideas of low fat choices.

  10. Congrats on your 100th post here!! I had a bad week too and was up a pound so I totally feel you, sista. I tracked...and tracked...and tracked up to 25 points over my daily, weekly, and activity. I don't know what my deal was. This week we are going to start fresh though. We will track (and stay within the points), drink the water, and move our bottoms. We can do it!! As far as your blog, I always like visiting. Suggestions...hmmm...maybe you could find a free template that would focus more on the chocolate or weight loss component of the blog. I love custom designs, but that's about all I have for you. Good luck this week!!

  11. Hello! I am very happy to have found your site. Diabetes runs rampant in our family and I lost a brother who had juvenile diabetes for 52 years.
Your healthy eating tips and recipes will be sure to help my family and
me very much! I am a vegetarian, so if you could give me some help getting more protein in my diet, I would appreciate it very much.
    Many thanks, Cindi

  13. I'm here for the Starbucks.

And because I just celebrated National Procrastinators Week (2nd week in March) I am finally jumping on the weight loss band wagon. It would be nice to lose a good bit before by birthday in the fall.

  14. Congrats on your 100th post!! That’s so awesome! You give such great advice on your blog; I've been following your receipts and suggestions. I have been on a fitness kick for the past 6 months now, I started working out with Roland Semprie in Toronto, and he’s my personal trainer. He has pushed me to new limits and motivated me. I can proudly say because of him I lost 20 pounds! Keep up the great work on your blog.
